crystal of the month
Don’t let its flaky composition fool you: This steadfast stone is an excellent listener.
A powerful energy conductor, blue kyanite is a clutch communication tool. Often used to balance the chakras, kyanite brings your energy centers into alignment so your throat chakra can open up without interference.
While this stone encourages you to speak your truth, its primary use is to get you closer to knowing what that truth actually is.
Blue kyanite serves as a gentle reminder that before you can get honest with others, you have to be honest with yourself.
Think of it as a navigation guide for exploring your inner depths, a role that isn’t too far from one of kyanite’s original uses: Ancient lore has it that when the stone was hung from a strand of hair it would follow the Earth’s magnetic field, pointing people northward like a compass needle. Our ancestors packed blue kyanite on trips to the unknown; we can use it to discover our deepest needs and desires.
As such, kyanite is great for dreamtime wanderings and analysis. Try slipping a chunk under your pillow at night and set an intention to remember the messages from your subconscious in the morning. When you wake up, jot down your dreams while holding the kyanite in your non-dominant hand. You can repeat this journaling exercise anytime, using kyanite to help you work through issues or questions you might need a nudge to be more honest about.
Kyanite’s elongated, columnar crystals are delicate to the touch and, because of the silica and mica in their makeup, prone to the occasional chip and flake. But, as long as you don’t toss this rock in your gym bag or send it through the spin cycle, it will show up for you in a major way.
And, because kyanite doesn’t attract or hold on to any negative energy, it doesn’t need to be cleansed or recharged. Just give it a little TLC.
